A Knowt alternative with one plan instead of three.
Knowt's free tier is a solid starting point, but its deeper AI tools sit behind a Premium plan and then an Ultra plan on top of that. MindLoad generates flashcards and quizzes from the same kinds of material — PDFs, notes, slides, lectures — using a single pay-as-you-go token system. No tier to climb, no plan to pick between.
5 free tokens on signup. No credit card, no subscription, nothing to cancel.

What changes when you switch from Knowt.
One plan, not a ladder
No Free/Premium/Ultra decision to make. Every account can generate AI flashcards and quizzes; you just pay for what you generate.
Tokens don't renew or reset
Unused tokens carry over indefinitely. There is no monthly allowance that disappears if you do not use it.
Built mobile-first
Native iOS and Android apps with full offline practice, not a web page you have to keep a tab open for.
A focus timer built in
Ultra Mode pairs a study timer with binaural-beat audio for focus and deep-learning sessions, included at no extra cost.
Already have Quizlet or Anki decks too? MindLoad imports both — see the Quizlet alternative and Anki alternative pages.

Is Knowt actually free?
Knowt's free tier covers core flashcard creation and basic AI generation. Its more advanced AI features, including unlimited AI chat and expanded assessment tools, sit behind a Premium plan (around $5/month) or an Ultra plan (around $12.49/month billed yearly). MindLoad uses a single pay-as-you-go token system instead of a three-tier ladder.
Can I import my Knowt flashcards into MindLoad?
MindLoad does not currently offer a one-click Knowt import. The faster path is to upload the same PDF, notes, or slides you originally used in Knowt, and MindLoad's AI will generate a fresh, editable set in seconds. Quizlet and Anki decks can be imported directly.
How is MindLoad different from Knowt?
Both generate flashcards and quizzes from PDFs, notes, and slides with AI. MindLoad uses pay-as-you-go tokens with no subscription tier, is built mobile-first with full offline practice, and includes a focus timer and achievement-based bonus tokens. Knowt is a free-to-start web platform with a Premium/Ultra subscription ladder.
Does MindLoad have unlimited AI like Knowt Ultra?
MindLoad does not market an "unlimited" tier; tokens are spent per generated set and never expire, so cost stays predictable. Reviewing existing sets, offline practice, the Ultra Mode focus timer, and AI summaries and study plans (within generous daily fair-use limits) never cost tokens.
Can I study offline with MindLoad?
Yes. Once a study set is generated, flashcards and quizzes work fully offline on iOS and Android. Only generating new AI sets requires an internet connection.
